While Abie was photographing Alex and Anna this weekend, I was on my way to State College to photograph Sarah and Steve's engagement session.

It was my first time at Penn State's main campus, (which is beautiful), and we had a great time while they gave me the grand tour. Here are few of my faves from our session:

Can't take photos on Penn State's campus without a visit to the Nittany Lion.

Ok, as promised, here is the rest of Heather and Pat's wedding from last fall. The wedding took place in Lexington, KY, and I was the second shooter for Angela Anderson.

Heather had gorgeous Gucci shoes. Her gown was by Elizabeth Fillmore and Pat's tux was a limited edition James Bond number by Brioni, and came complete with hidden pockets and a built in holster. It was hand-made for him in Italy and flown to the US in the hands of one of the seamstresses!

The entire day was amazing. Heather and Pat said their vows as the sun was setting behind them, which made for some gorgeous light. These two are such a sweet couple, and they wanted to make sure their guests had a fabulous time. From the 5 course meal to the individual wedding cakes for each guest, every detail was well thought out and executed to perfection. Their clear reception tent and decor were all custom made for them (complete with an acrylic dance floor) by Camargo Rental in Cincinnati.

Forgive my lack of blogginess...I have lots to blog about but not so much time to actually blog. :)

I have a solo show at the West Wing Gallery in Shadyside that I hung on Tuesday. It will be up until May 31st. I have 30 pieces in it, which make this my largest show yet. I'm excited about that. The entire show is of my abandoned spaces series, which is a personal project of mine. If you haven't seen any of my abandoned spaces series, I have a gallery of images up under 'portfolio' on my website.

I recently realized I never blogged the photos from Heather and Pat's wedding in September. Their wedding took place in Lexington, Kentucky and I was the second shooter for the ever fabulous Angela Anderson. This wedding was totally custom and exquisitely gorgeous. I'll post more photos in the next few days, but for now here's a sneak peek (loved Heather's bouquet!):

The new dates for the Flourish photography workshop have been announced. Our next workshop is being held in Louisville, Kentucky November 16-19, 2008. We are currently accepting reservations, so if you missed the first one, this is your chance for redemption!

Flourish is a three day workshop geared towards wedding photographers. Whether you are just starting out or have been in the business for years, you will leave inspired to take your business to the next level. We discuss the joys and challenges of running a boutique photography studio, and give you plenty of insight about what we've done right (and wrong) along the way. We also have several shooting exercises designed to give you creative ideas for lighting, styling and posing. This workshop is all inclusive, and your experience is rounded out by staying in the trendy 21c Museum Hotel in downtown Louisville, plus breakfasts, lunches and gourmet dinners, and lots of fabulous extras.

I'm hosting this with the lovely and talented Kitty Maer and Angela Anderson. For more information, or to reserve your seat, head over to the Flourish website.

Well I have had some good news in the midst of everything else that has been happening. Style Me Pretty contacted me in the beginning of March to ask me to be featured in their Little Black Book of wedding vendors. Style Me Pretty is a very popular wedding blog which features the best of the best of real weddings, stylish trends, inspiration boards and ideas for the 'style-obsessed bride'. Their Little Black Book of vendors is a handpicked list of the "hottest, most creative wedding vendors" in each city.

They recently added Pittsburgh to their list, and I am delighted to be chosen as one of their featured wedding photographers. They only choose 3 industry professionals in each category, so it's quite an honor to be selected!

Also, today is our 4 year wedding anniversary- how time flies! Happy Anniversary baby!

I want to thank all of you- everyone who left comments on my previous post about the death of my sister, who sent emails, and cards, and flowers. Thank you to all of my clients who have been fabulously patient while I took time off to be with my family. I'll be playing catch up over the next few days.

Death is a hard thing- certainly it's a part of life, but I expected to grow old with my sister- to see her raise her children, to celebrate her becoming a grandmother. I expected to have another 50 years with her. The last few weeks have been of mourning- for my parents, her husband, her children, for me- for the hole that her loss leaves in our lives. We all miss her terribly. I don't think that will ever change. What does change, is the pain of that loss. Even now, it doesn't hurt as much as it did last week. So now, we move on, never forgetting, but not dwelling. We celebrate her life, and the time we did have, and that she has a daughter that is the spitting image of her, who as she grows up, will be a beautiful reminder of her mother.

My sister passed away Thursday night. Thank you to everyone who has called, and left comments, and sent emails over the last month. The doctor thought she was going to go Saturday night, so my family had been at the hospital since then. This past week especially has been indescribably hard. My mom, dad, sister Melanie and I were all in the room with her when she took her last breath.

I'm so blessed to have such a close family. My heart is breaking for my mom and dad... as hard as it is to lose a sibling- I can't imagine the pain of losing a child.

The office is closed until March 25. I'll be returning phone calls and emails after then.

March 11, 2008

I've been at the hospital since Saturday- my whole family has. Right now, there is nothing else the doctors can do for my sister, and we're just waiting. The doctors are giving her pain medication to keep her comfortable- she is just sleeping. They thought she was going to pass away Saturday night, but she's been hanging on. It's heartbreaking to see her this way.

I'll be honest with you: I'm having an awfully hard time with this. I just can't bear to leave as long as she's still here, so I'm going to stay here at the hospital until she passes away.

The nurses here are amazing- they laugh with us and cry with us, and have been so wonderfully caring and supportive. The good news is, Michelle was awake and alert enough to make it through her daughter and son's birthdays. They came to the hospital, one of the nurses made her son a Jabba the Hut cake, and her daughter a horse cake. I have photos- I may post some later.

Again, please bear with me as my response time to phone calls and emails continues to be slow. The best way to reach me, if you need to, is still via email. Incidentally, I've also cancelled my trip to Las Vegas and WPPI.

Thank you everyone who has left comments and sent emails- I can't tell you how much my family and I appreciate your support.
